Privacy Policy

Rove is built by farmers, not an ad-tech company. We collect what the product needs to work, we don't sell it, and your farm records belong to you. Here's the honest detail.

1. What we collect

• Account details — your email address, name, and sign-in method (email/password, Google, or Apple).
• Your farm data — what you put in: farm name and location, paddock boundaries, stock and crop records, tasks, journal entries, and photos you upload. Farm location is used for things like your weather panel and maps.
• Subscription status — whether your farm has an active trial or subscription, which plan, and when it renews. We never see or store card numbers — payment details go directly to Stripe.
• Basic technical logs — errors and usage signals that help us keep Rove working (crash reports and diagnostics). These are about the software, not surveillance.

2. How we use it

To run Rove: showing you your own records, syncing them across your devices, sharing your farm with the members you invite, working out your weather, and emailing you things you've asked for (like invitations and important account or billing notices). That's it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't run third-party advertising.

3. Who helps us run Rove

Like almost every modern service, Rove is built on trusted providers who process data on our behalf:

• Supabase — hosts our database and your uploaded photos.
• Stripe — processes payments and stores your payment method. Stripe's own privacy policy covers the card details you give at checkout.
• RevenueCat — tracks subscription status (never card details).
• Vercel — serves the website and app.
• Resend — delivers our transactional emails (invitations, billing notices).
• OpenWeather & Google Maps — power the weather panel and maps, using your farm's coordinates.
• Error and analytics tooling (Sentry, PostHog) — crash reports and product diagnostics.

Each receives only what it needs to do its job. Some are hosted overseas (largely the US and Australia); wherever your data goes, it stays protected under agreements consistent with this policy and the NZ Privacy Act 2020.

4. Members and managed members

If you're invited to a farm, the farm's owner and members can see the records of that farm, including activity attributed to you (like tasks you complete). "Managed members" — people the owner adds by name without an account — exist only as a display name the owner typed; we hold no other information about them.

5. How long we keep things

• While your account is active, we keep your data so the product works — including when a subscription lapses (your farm goes read-only, nothing is deleted).
• If you delete your account or farm, the associated records and photos are deleted from our production systems, with residual copies clearing from backups on a rolling basis shortly after.
• We may keep minimal billing records where tax law requires it.

6. Cookies and device storage

We use the storage a signed-in app needs: your session token, and preferences like which map layers you have visible. No third-party advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.

7. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (and similar laws elsewhere), you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@rove.farm and we'll respond promptly. If you're not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the NZ Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

8. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit, access is controlled per farm at the database level, and payment details never touch our servers. No system is perfect, but we treat your farm records the way we'd want ours treated — because ours are in here too.

9. Changes and contact
